We encourage participants in our Mission Education Ministry to contact their representatives to express their concern over the rising death toll in the desert. Since 1995 over 5,000 individuals have died crossing the U.S./Mexico border In September 2001, our bi-national board sent a letter to President and Congress of the United States, encouraging reform and we seek positive reform to our nation's immigration laws. Additionally, Frontera de Cristo is a part of the U.S./Mexico Border and Immigration Task Force. The U.S. Mexico Border and immigration Task Force is a border-wide coalition that brings together local elected officials, law enforcement, faith and business leaders, and community groups. In November 2008, the Task Force released a groundbreaking report in Washington, D.C. that lays out more than seventy recommendations for border policy. U.S. Border Immigration Task Force:
